Do I still have to sort my pills?
No need to sort pills anymore. When loading medication into the machine, it is as simple as pouring the contents of you pill bottle for a particular medication into one of the pill chambers and inserting the chamber back into the machine.
How do I know when to take my medication?
When it is time to take your medication, alarms will go over on the DAP to alert you to come to it. There are both audible and visual alarms on the DAP. For an audible alarm, you can choose from built in alerts and chimes or record your own custom alert that can be played, e.g. "Grandpa, time to take your pills!". For those who have difficulty hearing or just don't want to use the audible alarms, the control pad also flashes to alert you that your pills are ready.
What if I am going out for the day?
If you are going out for the day, you can tell the DAP how long you will be gone for and it will dispense the correct amount of medication and tell you when you should take each medication. It then updates itself not to dispense until the next scheduled dispense after you said you would be home.
Do I need an extra phone line to use the unit?
No. You can plug the DAP into the existing phone line in your house.
What types of medication can it manage?
Any type of medication. Pills can be managed from within the DAP itself. Other types of medications such as liquids, injections, and topical creams can be managed by DAP as well. Just add all of the necessary information about the medication and the DAP will alert you when and how to take the non-pill medications. Pills that are not a constant dose size within the same prescription, i.e. birth control, must be managed as a non-pill medication due to the nature of the dispensing system.
Does it track compliance?
Yes, each time that you take a medication, the DAP records the time and date that it was taken and save the information so it can be accessed later.
How do I know when I need more pills?
The DAP will alert you that your pills are running low when the number of pills left reaches a level that you have previously set. It will not stop reminding you until you have either refilled the pills or removed the medication.
What do I do when I need to refill my pills?
Just select the appropriate medication from the Refill Pills menu. Remove the pill chamber that is presented to you, pour in your pills, enter how many pills were added, and insert the chamber back into the DAP. No need to re-enter any of the setup information.
How does it know when to give me my pills?
The DAP dispenses your pills based on the scheduled times that you have entered.
What kind of guarantee/warranty does it have?
For rentals, the DAP is 100% guaranteed. If there are any problems the DAP is repaired or replaced free of charge.
