For Immediate Release:
On June 2nd, 2010 HealthOneMed was pleased to host Congressman Charlie Dent at their headquarters in Allentown, PA. Congressman Dent paid the visit to HealthOneMed (HOM) to meet with the staff and learn about the company. Dr. Gazi Abdulhay, the founder and CEO of HOM, discussed the promise of Telemedicine in improving medical outcomes and reducing health care costs. Telemedicine changes the health care delivery model by improving patient access to health care resources and reducing the demand on expensive services, helping to bend the health care cost curve in the right direction.
Charlie Dent was first sworn in to the United States House of Representatives in January 2005. He represents Pennsylvania’s 15th District, which includes all or parts of Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery, and Berks counties. Congressman Dent currently serves on three House committees: Homeland Security, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Standards of Official Conduct (Ethics). Within the Homeland Security Committee, he serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection.
HealthOneMed, Inc is a medical device manufacturer headquartered in Allentown, PA. Dr. Abdulhay is a physician/surgeon in the field of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology, and he also is the founder of the Lehigh Valley Women’s Cancer Center. HOM’s first medication management product is the Dispense-a-Pill (DAP), a full-featured, automated pill dispenser that provides caregivers and patients the assurance that medications are taken on time and in the appropriate dosage. The DAP uses patented dispensing technology to sort the correct number of pills for each dose of each medicine. The patient or caregiver loads the medications into the machine and enters the necessary information. The dispensing system selects the appropriate number of pills required from each chamber for a particular dose and places them into a dispenser cup. At the pre-programmed time, the alert sounds and the correct dose is ready. A phone-alert feature can also call up to 4 preset phone numbers to notify a caregiver that their loved one has not taken their medication, providing an additional safeguard.
